Web application directory

Filed under: General — russell @ 10:04 am

Found an interesting site that has web applications for a variety of web applications. They have something for pretty much anything you want to do. Check it out:

I have been workign on some new layouts for web applications

Filed under: General — russell @ 10:14 am

Here is a good reference for constructing web forms. It succinctly defines the pluses and minuses for different layouts.... There just is not much in the way of choice for web forms.

Unbelievable….

Filed under: General — russell @ 8:10 am

This seems to be played down in the press. I am surprised no one is talking about this... seems unbelievable to me. AND no oversight!

Run your own business… you shouldn’t for long

Filed under: General — russell @ 5:45 pm

Interesting article on something I have known for a long time: at some point you need to turn your business over to someone else. This is much easier said than done. Even if you have the will, finding the right person is ridiculously difficult. Check out the Forbes article:

Nice Little Business -- Now Get Out of the Way

Faster better learning

Filed under: General — russell @ 8:54 am

Found another article that talks about how to learn faster and "better." Good article. You may be surprised at how many of these things you do already.

Parsers *sigh*

Filed under: General — russell @ 10:35 am

How many times have you written your own parser for some application? It is ridiculous. Every time you get there and realize that "hey... now I have to deal with escaped commas or some other delimiter." Anyway enough of that for the .Net environment -- best to use Marcos FileHelpers.

Again for the web design challenged

Filed under: General — russell @ 2:56 pm

There is an open source web template project. Has lots to look at and many are CSS XHTML compliant (no more table based layouts).

New Vista stuff

Filed under: General — russell @ 9:16 pm

Just got a fresh Fujitsu T4215 with VISTA. Feels nice. But still many pains getting things tight. Syncing my Treo 700wx for example. Had to hand install Windows Mobile Device Center even though it was sort of halfway on the machine... Either way that was not too bad. I had become a WMDC install expert when I tried to get it working with Vista RTM on my T4010D. Anyway got it install synced up great. Next for bluetooth. *sigh*

Of course it did not work... Seems WMDC has default issues with the toshiba stack. Luckily Ken Schaefer managed to figure it out for me (was kind of hard to find on google hence this slug). Check it out here on Ken's site:

As usual I rip a copy of his text for archive purposes after the jump.
